Our homestead is made up of 16 wonderful acres of land, about half of which is forested. We have a lovely big farmhouse made from traditional Portuguese stone to renovate. We have a well on site and two water mines, and our power is provided entirely by solar panels. We haven’t been here long, but little by little, day by day, this abandoned land is transforming into something really special.

We both believe that life is way too short to be doing something that you don’t enjoy everyday. Our decision to sell our house and pack up our ‘normal’ lives was somewhat impulsive. We dreamed about living a more simple life in the future and decided to take action to turn that dream into a reality, to escape the rat race and the conventional way of life. To us, happiness is a way of life. It is not about material things, it is about taking joy in the simple things, appreciating what you have, your relationships and your experiences.

Our vision

We hope to create our own little paradise here on the mountain, building an off grid homestead and working towards living a more sustainable lifestyle. From home renovations and building, to growing gardens and animals; we will be doing everything ourselves. We will learn a lot as we go and, most importantly, will enjoy the journey. We hope that by sharing what we learn and how our homestead develops, through our videos and blogs, we can inspire others to follow their dreams and embrace alternative ways of living.
